National Mining Association Releases Second Annual Analysis

The National Mining Association has released the second annual analysis by Moore Economics of The Economic Contributions of U.S. Mining.  This report covers 2007, the latest year for which complete data are available, and can be accessed at http://www.nma.org/pdf/pubs/mining_economic_report.pdf.

This analysis explains the role of U.S. mining in providing vital resources and high-paying jobs for America at a time when the American public and policymakers across the nation are concerned about the weakening economy and the need for jobs preservation and creation.  In addition to providing nationwide summary information, the report details direct and indirect jobs, payroll, direct and indirect economic output and other key economic contributions of each of the mining sectors—coal, metal, non-metal and uranium mining—in the U.S. and by individual states.
